LINDSAY LOHAN

Lohan began her career at the age of three as a Ford model and commercial kid, making appearances in more than 60 ads for the Gap, Pizza Hut, Wendy's and Jell-O. She made her acting debut in 1996 as the third actress to play Ali Fowler in the TV soap Another World. She played two roles in her first feature film, a remake of The Parent Trap, gaining attention as the new cutie-pie kid actor on the block and winning a handful of child-actor awards to boot. Starring roles in Freaky Friday and Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen followed, but it was her lead turn in the witty satire Mean Girls (2004) that helped make Lohan a bankable star - until off-screen and on-set antics sidelined her career, got her publicly dissed by her Georgia Rule co-star Jane Fonda and sent her into rehab just as she was about to film Poor Things with Shirley MacLaine.
ANGELINA JOLIE

The daughter of a show-biz family, Jolie got an early start, training at the Lee Strasberg Institute in her teens. By 30, she'd made more movies than her years, most notably her Lara Croft films, the TV movie Gia and Girl, Interrupted, the latter two of which earned the actress several major awards, including the Best Supporting Actress Oscar. But talented as she may be, it's her dark, sultry looks, edgy persona (who else would passionately kiss her brother at an awards show?) and ability to steal other actresses' men (Billy Bob from Laura Dern, and Brad Pitt from Jennifer Aniston) and her baby-adopting that seem to keep the public eye steadily focused on Jolie. Still, she definitely keeps trying, with roles in serious films like a CIA wife in The Good Shepherd and Daniel Pearl's wife in the story of his kidnap and beheading by terrorists, A Mighty Heart.
JULIA ROBERTS

Roberts first hit the big time as the streetwalking Cinderella who wins the heart of millionaire Richard Gere in 1990's Pretty Woman. Two big hits followed: the death-fetish flick Flatliners and the battered-wife thriller Sleeping With the Enemy. After a few years of misses, Roberts reclaimed her former box-office glory in 1997: The summer release My Best Friend's Wedding opened to the highest-ever single weekend ticket sales for a romantic comedy and earned her a Golden Globe nomination. Two years later, she starred in two successful romantic comedies (Notting Hill, Runaway Bride). Numerous critics judged her performance as a working single mom in Steven Soderbergh's Erin Brockovich (2000) to be her finest performance to date, and it surprised few when she was awarded the Best Actress Golden Globe in January 2001, and then the Best Actress Oscar the following March. Since her big Oscar win, she's been involved in an Oscar-winning drama (2004's Closer) and co-starred in both Ocean's Eleven and Ocean's Twelve.
