BRUCE WILLIS
Willis was born on a military camp but grew up in New Jersey and started acting onstage in the '80s. A casting director discovered him tending bar in New York, and he started getting more and more small parts onstage and in films. Beating out 3,000 other hopefuls in 1985 for the role of P.I. David Addison on the mystery-comedy show Moonlighting, the unknown Willis became a household name in short order and a superstar a few years later with the Die Hard action franchise. In 1987, he became one-half of a Hollywood super-couple when he married Demi Moore; they divorced amicably after 13 years and three kids. He remains one of Hollywood's most respected actors, playing everything from difficult character roles in small independent films to, well, John McLane yet again in 2007's Live Free or Die Hard.
AL PACINO
Arguably one of the greatest actors in modern history, Pacino rose from relative obscurity to become the star of one of the best film franchises in history. In 1972, director Francis Ford Coppola cast the unknown Italian-American in his iconic mobster drama, The Godfather, despite studio disapproval. His intense performance earned him an Academy Award nomination and a permanent place in cinematic history. Throughout his career, Pacino has succeeded in playing troubled gangster-types in dramatic films such as Serpico (1973), Scarface (1983), Carlioto's Way (1993) and the two Godfather sequels. But he also wowed audiences in subtle performances like that of a misguided, gay bank robber in Dog Day Afternoon, a sleep-deprived detective in Insomnia and as a blind womanizer in Scent of a Woman, which, after seven nominations, finally scored Pacino an Academy Award.
KEANU REEVES
Although he gained attention for his roles in 1986's River's Edge and Youngblood, Reeves first hit the big time as a cheerful Southern Californian space-case in 1989's Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. After gaining such notoriety for that lighthearted part, Reeves played a few darker, more complex roles, most notably co-starring with River Phoenix as a pair of street hustlers in Gus Van Sant's My Own Private Idaho in 1991. Reeves' achieved true commercial success when he moved into action films, first really scoring at the box office when he starred with Sandra Bullock in 1994's Speed and then skyrocketing to über-fame when he played the infamous Neo in science fiction blockbuster The Matrix and its sequels. Although he is often criticized for wooden line delivery, Reeves remains a busy actor taking on continually challenging roles.
